2. How do we help students become adept at investigating and answering challenging questions?


  • Teaching them how to break down complicated questions into smaller parts
  • Modeling the process for them (including outlines/visuals/doing "stations" for kinetic learners)
  • Teaching searching strategies/techniques
  • Encouraging the students that they CAN do these more complicated questions
  • Resist temptation to give hints or answers, NO SPOON FEEDING
    • response to student answers should not limit to ONE correct answer
  • Create a safe learning environment where it's OK to be wrong
  • Encourage curiosity
